The complexity of computing a ( quasi - ) perfect equilibrium for an n - player
We study the complexity of computing or approximating an equilibrium for a given finite n-player extensive form game of perfect recall (EFGPR), where n ≥ 3. Our results apply not only to Nash equilibrium (NE), but also to various important refinements of NE for EFGPRs, including: subgame-perfect equilibrium in behavior strategies, sequential equilibrium (SE), and extensive form trembling-hand p...
متن کاملComputing a quasi-perfect equilibrium of a two-player game
Refining an algorithm due to Koller, Megiddo and von Stengel, we show how to apply Lemke’s algorithm for solving linear complementarity programs to compute a quasi-perfect equilibrium in behavior strategies of a given two-player extensive-form game of perfect recall. A quasi-perfect equilibrium is known to be sequential, and our algorithm thus resolves a conjecture of McKelvey and McLennan in t...
متن کاملA Computational Complexity Theory in Membrane Computing
In this paper, a computational complexity theory within the framework of Membrane Computing is introduced. Polynomial complexity classes associated with different models of cell-like and tissue-like membrane systems are defined and the most relevant results obtained so far are presented. Many attractive characterizations of P 6= NP conjecture within the framework of a bio-inspired and non-conve...
متن کاملOptical Computing and Computational Complexity
This work concerns the computational complexity of a model of computation that is inspired by optical computers. The model is called the continuous space machine and operates in discrete timesteps over a number of two-dimensional images of fixed size and arbitrary spatial resolution. The (constant time) operations on images include Fourier transformation, multiplication, addition, thresholding,...
متن کاملComputing Equilibria: A Computational Complexity Perspective
Computational complexity is the subfield of computer science that rigorously studies the intrinsic difficulty of computational problems. This survey explains how complexity theory defines “hard problems”; applies these concepts to several equilibrium computation problems; and discusses implications for computation, games, and behavior. We assume minimal prior background in computer science.
